I recently work with Lauren for a music video that I directed. From day 1 she was proactively engaged with all cast and crew to develop the best choreography for the video and perfectly brought my vision to the screen.
For filmmakers looking for a dancer/choreographer for a project, I can not recommend Lauren enough for the job. She works perfectly in a team, understands what looks good on camera and is just a joy to work with!

Lauren's technique choreographing High School Musical (2019) and The Little Mermaid (2018) was superb, and she gained a warm rapport with the cast. She was passionate about each moment, understanding the connection between dancing, story, and the elements of theatre. "A complete package", she also helped with costumes, hair, and boosted cast morale with her outfits and warm-up routines.

I had the pleasure of being Musical Director to Lauren's Choreographer for a production of "The Wedding Singer" a few years ago, and it was a great, collaborative experience.
Lauren's creativity, coupled with attention to detail and work ethic, were all particularly impressive. She also has an all too rare skill of working effectively with dancers of all abilities, tailoring her instruction whilst bonding the group into a unified ensemble.
I would work with Lauren again without hesitation, and very much endorse her as Dance Teacher, Choreographer, and all-round nice person!!!

Her passion and commitment for each project she undertakes really comes through in her teaching. She also has a keen eye for detail, styles and time periods and can adapt this to dancers of all levels, giving everyone their chance to shine. Not only that, her energy is absolutely infectious!

I have recently be under the instruction of the founder of DTLS, Lauren MacKinnon, and she is an exceptional teacher!! She is always encouraging and does everything she can to make it easier for her students to understand the choreography. She is extremely happy and bubbly and her enthusiasm is infectious that even when you're really tired you can still keep dancing! She understands the dance ability of each person and can see if someone is struggling, but she also can tell if someone has potential and will make sure that you're able to do your very best in every dance! She is an amazing teacher and choreographer and I 100% recommend having lessons with her!

Recently I became part of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, where I got cast as one of The Drifters. Tho I can sing, my dancing is awful. Thank God, Lauren MacKinnon, our choreographer, made this experience an enjoyable one for me. She made sure that I could understand the dance in my very chaotic brain. She helped me achieved what the role requires me to do. It was very stressful at first, as I am a pain in learning choreography, but Lauren was very patient and guided me throughout the process. What a fantastic person and choreographer!

Anyone who knows me will know that I'm far from the best dancer but everyone who saw me in Blackout Theatre Companies Beautiful: The Carole King Musical was fooled thanks to the incredible work Lauren did as choreographer. Lauren brought a fresh and infectious, passion and energy to every single dance number - that brought the best out of the whole cast, regardless of if they were first time dancers or hand decades of experience. I couldn't recommend Lauren MacKinnon and Dancing Through Life Studios enough for any dance project for any experience level!
