Lauren MacKinnon has over 20 years of industry training within the performing arts.
Her love of dance started at the age of 4 when she was taught classical ballet. A few years later she began jazz ballet and tap dancing, which she has continued ever since! She has trained with industry professionals dancing at Millennium Dance Complex (LA, California), Mad Dance House (Brisbane), Sydney Dance Company, Brent Street, and Tap Dogs (Sydney) within the styles of hip hop, JFH, musical theatre, and tap.
Performing in numerous concerts, eisteddfods, and events with her dance school Nova Studios, her love for the stage expanded after school, performing with local musical societies.
Her onstage performances include; Grease (Hornsby Musical Society, 2013), Follies (HMS, 2013), The Producers (HMS, 2014), Gypsy (HMS, 2015), Guys And Dolls (HMS, 2016), We Will Rock You (HSM, 2018), Rock of Ages (Sydney Youth Musical Theatre, 2018), and Anything Goes (HMS, 2018).
Her passion for the performing arts and dance teaching expanded within her Bachelor of Arts (Media) and Master of Teaching - Secondary (Drama and Dance). She has taught at various dance schools in Sydney including Nova Studios, The Australian Institute of Performing Arts, Groove Nation, and Pisaciou Entertainment.
Lauren's choreography and production works include The Producers (Assistant Choreographer, HMS, 2014), The Wedding Singer (Choreographer, HMS, 2016), Shrek JR The Musical (Production Assistant, Ravenswood, 2017), The Little Mermaid (Choreographer, Northern Beaches Christain School, 2018), High School Musical (Choreographer, NBCS, 2019), Wicked (Choreographer, Abbotsleigh, 2021) and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Choreographer, Blackout Theatre Company, 2021).
