Ready to Dance? (FAQ'S)
Do I need any dance experience?
No experience at all is needed. This class is designed specifically for Absolute Beginners - adults who have never danced before. We break everything down slowly and support you at every step.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in - leggings, track pants, shorts, t-shirts, or singlets. You can start with runners/sneakers, and can purchase tap shoes later on.
What should I bring?
A water bottle, comfortable clothes, and a small towel if you need it.
Most importantly - bring your enthusiasm and willingness to try something new!
What style of tap do you teach?
Our tap classes explore both Broadway Tap and Rhythm Tap. Broadway Tap focuses on musicality and performance, while Rhythm Tap strengthens technique, timing, and sound quality. Through out the year you will be taught choreography that explores both of these genres.
Will I be the only beginner?
Not at all. This class is dedicated to adults who are brand new to dance.
Everyone is starting from the same place, and the atmosphere is warm, encouraging, and non-judgmental.
What if I have two left feet?
Perfect! Our Beginner classes are built for adults who feel exactly that way.
You’ll be surprised at how quickly you improve.
What if I’m feeling nervous about starting?
That’s completely normal! Our studio is known for being warm, friendly, and welcoming. You’re encouraged to ask questions, take breaks and go at your own pace.
Most students feel much more confident after their very first class!
Can I join at any time?
We run classes on a term basis (10 weeks), with bookings required in advance.
This helps keep the group consistent and supports your progress week-to-week.
Does DTLS offer casual classes or drop-in classes?
All of our 'Beginner' & 'Open' classes are available to drop in on a week-to-week basis.
Does DTLS offer free trial classes?
Unfortunately we do not offer any free trial classes. However you are welcome to join us for a casual class before you commit to the class for the term.
